Boyd Jarvis has been one of the unsung heroes of the New York dance scene from the early 80s, behind influential tracks such as Billie ‘Nobody’s Business’, Visual ‘The Music Got Me’, Colonel Abrams ‘Running’ and a mountain of other productions and remixes. This release from 1991 on Movin’ Records was the first time Boyd would appear as an artist in his own right, hence the title of the EP. ‘Blink Blink’ is a hypnotic groove centred around the trademark rugged and raw bass that Boyd became famous for, whilst Timpani is a classic keyboard workout jam that takes you away. ‘1990’s’ is Boyd’s social commentary, utilizing some sobering news snippets as a sign of the times. We have also unearthed 2 previously unreleased and unheard mixes of ‘1990’s’ for the Boyd Jarvis fans and classic house hunters. Please note the masters have deteriorated somewhat, so you may hear some slight distortion although we have tried to reduce this where possible. Boyd passed away in Feb 2018, but he left an amazing body of work including such as this E.P for you to discover why people often cite him as one of the architects of house music.
